Chief Risk Officer

Job description 

The Chief Risk Officer (CRO) will have the Legal, Compliance, and Risk Management departments under his/her supervision. The CRO will be an executive Board member but should focus on the company’s compliance with company policies and every relevant regulation. The CRO should actively spar with the CEO on risk management and compliance with a focus on long-term sustainable development of the organisation. The CRO is accountable to ensure the organisation’s documented Risk Appetite accurately reflects the company’s actual risk appetite.  The second line of defence will report to the CRO and the CRO will assist the CEO with the development of the first line of defence.  

 MCF is looking for the following competencies in a Chief Risk Officer :

• Able to prepare and execute policies and company strategies.  
• Capable of monitoring, evaluating and reviewing business processes and steering these processes where necessary in collaboration with the rest of management.  
• Capable of effectively communicating relevant information/data between the 1st and 2nd + 3rd lines.  

• Capable of establishing and implementing long-term strategies to improve compliance and risk management.  
• Capable of sparring with other Board members to ensure their compliance and proper risk management.   
• At least 5 years of leadership experience.  
• At least 5 years of experience with the financial sector.  
• At least 5 years of experience with risk management and compliance.
